what is the meaning of "Thou shalt not kill"
The Ten Commandments or the Decalogue are a list of religious and moral imperatives that feature prominently in Judaism and Christianity and according to tradition, were authored by God and given to Moses, see Exodus 19:23 or Deuteronomy 5:2. You shall not murder is one of them. According to traditional division and interpretation of the commandment You shall not murder is the sixth commandment, some churches have a different division, and meaning that murdering an other human being is a capital sin. However the right of states to execute criminals is not absolutely forbidden by this commandment. Some churches consider abortion a murder. The question of wars is discussed is raised in the roman catolique Catechism 2258–2330.
In the Qur'an one finds rather the same commandments, or...anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people, see Qur'an 5:32.
