Hello, I'll arrive to Helsinki on the 1st of July for 3 months. I'd like to use the services of library but as I read on your page, I need an address in Finland. I'll rent the flat for the period of my stay, but I'm not sure if this will be sufficient. If so, what kind of documents would you need? And what if I get the 'right of residence' for this period? Will this be sufficient? I'm from an EU member country. Thanks a lot for your answer, it's very important to me :-). Have a nice day!
The address of the rental apartment where you're staying is perfectly sufficient for the purpose of getting yourself a library card. You also need some kind of official identification, i.e. a passport, a government issued ID card (from an EU member country) or a driver's license (also from EU). That's all you need.
You can apply for the library card in any HelMet library. You'll get the card right then and there. The HelMet library card is valid in all Helsinki metropolitan area (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen) city libraries.
