Good Day:This is related to parentage testing.
This is related to parentage testing. Can massive blood tranfusions to the female shortly before conception result in confusing DNA results later. Could masive blodd transfusions from as many as 12-18 different donors result in conflicting DNA tets results. Thank you
Blood transfusions do not alter the DNA of the recipient.
Blood is composed of four main elements: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. Of these only white blood cells contain DNA.
The normal transfusion involves only red blood cells, which do not contain DNA.
There are rare occasions of whole blood transfusion, but even in these cases no traces of foreign DNA have been detected in the recipient's blood, regardless of how much was transfused.
