I checked the whole paragraph and the context for the word. The word is obsolescent and not used anymore. I would interpret it as an euphemism for a prostitute. The other interpretation would be that it refers to woman from high social class. But if you look at the context, you can see that all the occupations the narrator lists are working class occupations: shop assistants, dressmakers, working class daughters and servants. And before that:...14.3.2018 15:38Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto
Unfortunately, I could not get hold of the edition you mentioned. The one I have in hand is the 2009 edition, but very probably the text is identical apart from the misprint. The paragraphs in question read as follows:
"Käykää toki pöytään, herra ratsumestari", kehoitti kornetti pyörein lapsenposkin ja ihaili kantasormusta sormessaan.
"Pitäisi kirjoittaa kotiin", vastusti Möllersvärd laimesti. Mielessä...3.10.2017 09:18Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

I’m afraid it is not possible to give an exact answer to this question. There are some printed sources like publication Sculptures and monuments in Helsinki,1982, published by the Helsinki City Tourist Office. That one is of course old and unfortunately they don’t publish it any more so there are not any newer versions.
Then there are some books in Finnish, like Löytöretki muistomerkeille, pääkaupunkiseudun julkiset teokset, 2006, and Pää...12.7.2016 14:01Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

There is a constant shortage of practice space in the Helsinki area for bands and people who want to play music. The City of Helsinki’s youth centers (in Finnish Nuorisotalo) offer some practice rooms to young musicians and bands around the city. In some cases they may even have drums or some other instruments.
Some HelMet-libraries have small practice rooms and other music-related facilities, but the spaces are usually quite small and may not be suitable for a large group. In any case...27.4.2015 14:02Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Hi!
You could start searching for books, articles and reference information from HelMet, Google scholar or JSTOR.
HelMet gives you access to Ebsco Masterfile Elite database which offers worldwide articles, full text articles included.

You are right. This oil painting in question is Albert Edelfelts “Under the birches” from the year 1882. The lady on the left side is Edelfelt’s sister Annie Edelfelt.

The manuscript is almost certainly a Roman Catholic gradual book. It is highly unlikely that it is from the Graduale Aboense. I think you should show the manuscript to the faculty of music of your nearest university. I think the representatives of your nearest catholic church might also be able to tell more about your manuscript.

I leafed through books, old and new, about Christmas decorations and about paper craft in general. The only description of the “Finnish star” I could find was in an English book, namely “Home made Christmas” by Tessa Evelegh (Cico Books 2009). In this book, the star is called simply “white paper star”. The author writes: “Try making this easy-to-make yet charming tree-top decoration based around the traditional Scandinavian papercrafts... “ (p. 58).
There really is an old Scandinavian...29.3.2012 12:56Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Rut Bryk, Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva are unique artists, they cannot be produced industrially. Arabia and Iittala, however, still are strong brands and can find more excellent designers. So, with a bit of patience, they can grow artistically creative again. Also most of their good old designs still are available.
Thank You, Sir, for Your interesting comment.21.1.2012 23:16Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

I'm afraid we found very little information about the artist and nothing at all about Paul Palokoski.
There are two paintings from J. Palokoski on this page: http://kauppa.digikuvasto.fi/index.php?page=search&action=hae&taiteilija=890
They are for sale.
If you can read Finnish, you can get some information from this debate: http://keskustelu.suomi24.fi/node/5504946
I'm sorry we couln't find any more information about Paul Palokoski.18.11.2011 17:32Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any Irish myth that has to do with virgins. But according to tradition a female creature called Banshee wails in the night when someone from the old Irish families is going to die.

Hi! Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds was created by a Spanish studio, BRB Internacional, and first broadcast in 1981.
You aren't the only one who remembers the adventures of Dogtanian, Porthos, Aramis, Athos and a bunch of other canine characters. An Internet search for "dogtanian and the three muskehounds" will return articles, images and videos. (Quotation marks around the phrase give a focused search result.)
There's a fan site definitely worth checking out: http://www.muskehounds....8.3.2011 02:07Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto
