        how functions a duplicating machine?
Duplicating machines were the predecessors of modern document-reproduction technology. They have now been replaced by scanners, laser printers and photocopiers, but for many years they were the primary means of reproducing documents for mass distribution. Like the typewriter these machines were children of the second phase of the industrial revolution which started near the end of the 19th century. The second phase of the industrial revolution is also called the Second Industrial Revolution...11.7.2006 20:30

How the gas pump know that your oil tank is full and stop the pump?
There's a small hole near the tip of the pump nozzle. This hole is connected to a small pipe that travels through the nozzle to the handle. When you fill the gas tank, air flows through the hole into the pipe. When the tank is full, the hole will be below the gasoline level and no air will pass through the pipe. A mechanical switch detects when the flow of air stops and shuts off the gas. http://www.sciencetheatre.org/ask_st/122591.html http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question25.htm3.1.2007 05:00Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Hi, There's no final decisions made yet of the type of the nuclear reactors. I browsed through the applications and endorsements by the Government where the following information can be found. First, the application by Fennovoima Oy. There's three proposed options to the type of the reactor: a) European Pressurized Water Reactor (EPR), by Areva, b) KERENA (a type of boiling water reactor), also by Areva, c) Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR), by Toshiba-Westinghouse. There's several...9.5.2010 22:07

What is the difference in short orifice and long orifice plates?
This is a very specific technical question and we do not have the competence to provide an answer. However, the following link does contain a description of both long and short orifice plates concerning printing processes: Commercial systems employing the continuous binary ink jet approach have been successfully employed using longer (e.g. page width) orifice plates of lower resolution (e.g. 120 orifices per inch) and shorter (e.g. line height) orifice plates having high resolution (e.g. 300...2.11.2009 13:50Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

        Hello,Is it crazy if I buy a PlayStation 3?PS - I just turned 30.
It's not crazy at all, go for it! According to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald, the average age of Australian game players is now 30. The same goes more or less for other countries as well. Also many of the games that are released these days are targeted for adults. In summary, 30 is an excellent age to buy a video game console ;) Here's a link to the article: http://www.smh.com.au/news/digital-life/games/articles/never-too-old-to-play/2008/12/23/1229998532327.html2.2.2009 16:27Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Why do appear stripes on the monitor screens when they're filmed?
Hi! Stripes on the screen are caused by the different refresh rates of the monitor and the tv camera. So when these two are flickering on the different sync the stripes appear. Sometimes i notice when the monitor is set to 100Hz it can be viewed on tv without problem. Monitor 100Hz is double of PAL 50Hz so solves it. Thank you for your question. The iGS or information Gas Station is the Helsinki City Library's mobile information service station. We use the expression ’gas station’ metaforically, you cannot tank gas at our station, only information. Unfortunately we do not have the kind of specialized information you are looking for.
