Hei,I would like to know if there is any eclipse today here in Finland?
You sent your question on the 31st of December, 2009. The answer is yes, there was a partial eclipse of the Moon that could be seen in Finland on that day. The eclipse started at 19:15 and was at its deepest at 21:23. The next eclipse of the Moon that can be seen in Finland will take place 25.4.2013. http://www.hs.fi/kotimaa/artikkeli/Kuunpimennys+v%C3%A4rj%C3%A4si+osan+kuusta+punaiseksi/1135251822328 Probably this answer is not very much use to you any more, but unfortunately the questions...31.12.2009 16:14Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Hi,I would like to know if there are any upcoming eclipses in finland ?
Thank You for Your Question. Right now it is a very scanty time for eclipses in Finland. There are no solar eclipses in the near future in Finland. This year there are two upcoming lunar eclipses. The first penumbral shadow eclipse is in 6.8.2009 in the Constellation of the Capricorn. It starts at 2.01 a.m. and ends at 5.17 a.m. At it's deepest it is at 5.17 a.m. The next one is in 31.12.2009 in the Constellation of the Gemini. It starts at 19.05 and ends 23.30. At it's deepest it is at...6.7.2009 08:42

What time is it in California?
Here's the current California time for you: http://www.timetemperature.com/tzus/california_time_zone.shtml. The map shows the Pacific time zone and you find the date and time in the box next to it. (Do refresh your browser in a minute for the exact time!) If you scroll down the page you'll find a list of California locations, too.12.11.2008 00:05Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Hi! We can also enjoy the mysterious feeling of full moon and partial lunar eclipse in Finland at midnight between 16th and 17th this month. The moon will rise from the east. Are ther earthquakes on other planets?
We have been asked this question before, thus the following answer comes from our own iGS archives: According to the following link Earth is the only planet that exhibits major surface movements (plate tectonics). http://www.lifeinuniverse...01.html However some research in recent years suggests that Mars may have at one point exhibited plate tectonics. http://science.nasa.gov/n...9_1.htm The following link has an article that supports the theory that only Earth exhibits plate tectonics....11.11.2006 05:48Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

What do scientists guess about sun exterior being hotter than its interior?
The Sun's outer visible layer is called the photosphere and has a temperature of 6,000°C (11,000°F). http://www.solarviews.com/eng/sun.htm At the center of big sunspots the temperature can be as low as 7300 °F (4300 K, 4000 °C). The temperature of the Sun is determined by measuring how much energy (both heat and light) it emits. Montana State University-Bozeman researcher Loren Acton, Eric Priest of St. Andrews University in Scotland and a team of European scientists have discovered that a...21.1.2006 20:18Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

The Sundivision at Ursa, The Society for Astronomy, http://www.ursa.fi/ has sent the following answer to your question: The phenomena is called halos. They are much like rainbows. They can be seen around the sun. There are many varieties. Normally small ice particals cause it. Sometimes for example very small tree seeds can do the same. You can read more for example at http://www.sundog.clara.co.uk/halo/halosim.htm18.12.2005 00:30Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto
