      Music meet-up space
There is a constant shortage of practice space in the Helsinki area for bands and people who want to play music. The City of Helsinki’s youth centers (in Finnish Nuorisotalo) offer some practice rooms to young musicians and bands around the city. In some cases they may even have drums or some other instruments. Some HelMet-libraries have small practice rooms and other music-related facilities, but the spaces are usually quite small and may not be suitable for a large group. The manuscript is almost certainly a Roman Catholic gradual book. It is highly unlikely that it is from the Graduale Aboense. I think you should show the manuscript to the faculty of music of your nearest university. I think the representatives of your nearest catholic church might also be able to tell more about your manuscript. Links: http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduale_Aboense28.4.2012 22:23

Eljon Liebkind, whose stage name was Johnny, was a popular singer in Finland in the 60s. His first big hit was a song called "Hymyhuulet" (released in 1963), a Finnish cover version of Cliff Richards hit "Lucky Lips". His career began to fade when the 60s came to a close. In 1969 he toured Finland with the headline "Villi vallankumous" which translates as "Wild Revolution". It was a package concert tour with different artists. Frankies was Johnny’s backing group. Kristina Hautala was also a...22.1.2011 23:51Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

      Maamme-laulu in English?
The English translation of ”Maamme” can be found at http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Our_Land_(Runeberg). The translator is Anna Krook (1850–1926). “Our Land” is in public domain, so it can be used without any copyright limits.31.10.2010 13:26Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

You can find piano rooms free of charge in Tikkurila Library in Vantaa (tel. +358 9 8392 3583 for reservation and details) and in Leppävaara Library in Espoo (tel. +358 9 816 57615). These piano rooms are located in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area about 20 minutes with the train from the center of Helsinki. I didn´t find any information about private practice rooms. I would advice you to ask further information from the school you are applying to.31.3.2010 17:11Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Hi there, I`ve heard of a musician who is said to be very famous in finland.
Yes, Jukka Tolonen is a prominent Finnish musician. The name is written with J, not Y. I believe Y is used because if you pronounce the name as in English, then you come close to the Finnish pronunciation. Jukka Tolonen is rather well known abroad. I remember, once I was arriving at the New York airport, and as the customs officer realized I'm coming from Finland, he came up with Tolonen's name, just like that. Warn down? No such thing in the dictionary. Dylan wrote "walk down". "Blowin' in the Wind" on Bob Dylan's website: http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/blowin.html You meant this?23.5.2008 13:55Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

Here are two web-addresses that you may contact in an effort to find singing instructions in Helsinki area. The first one is a private teacher and the second one is the well known Sibelius Academy of Finland: http://www.voimalaulu.com/ http://www.siba.fi/en/26.2.2008 09:22Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto

The iGS would suggest contacting Espoo Music Institute http://www.espoonmusiikkiopisto.net/ Another way is to put an ad to a local newspaper and search for a private piano teacher. In Helsinki Metropolitan Area there are many music schools and institutions and some students and their teachers may give piano lessons.31.12.2007 04:30

As Pachelbel's canon is one of the most famous baroque tunes, there's hundreds of adaptations and versions of it. We couldn't find the artist you're looking for, with the information you could provide. Thankfully answers.com has a thorough list of musical adaptations of Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D major. Maybe that list could be helpful. In these interviews http://www.hardrock80.com/PAGEinterview/HANOI_ROCKSEnglish.htm and http://www.kaos2000.net/interviews/michaelmonroe/ Michael Monroe tells that the band name comes from the song 'Chinese Rock' by Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. At first Andy McCoy suggested "Chinese Rocks" for the band's name, but it was his second suggestion Hanoi Rocks that was chosen. There's another story too. Hi Unfortunately we could not find any information about Phil Collins' tours or gigs to Brazil. On his official web site there is a possibility to leave your message to his guest book. Maybe you could get some answers there. Here is the address: http://www.philcollins.co.uk/5.2.2006 19:27
